Clear Air Turbulance      According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Delta Flight 5763 from John Wayne Airport in Orange County experienced severe turbulence at 34,000 feet ( Goldman,2019). There was extreme turbulence as the flight attendants served drinks to the passengers  ( Goldman,2019). The cart eventually hit the ceiling and so did one of the crew members. The woman who was in the bathroom at the time was said to have hit the ceiling and came out bleeding from her head. This was found to be due to clear air turbulence  ( Goldman,2019).      According to Foerster (2019), weather accounts for 35 percent of fatal air crashes. This is because the weather is in the realm of human beings, and it is impossible to completely predict and prevent it. Today, I would like to discuss one of the dangerous meteorological factors, CAT, called clear air turbulence.      CAT occurs at high altitudes in the atmosphere during...

Flight service station (FSS) and Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC)      When we think of air traffic control, we think of the big towers around the airport. Also, we think of controllers that are busy moving in a high ellipse. However, the actual air traffic control system is much more complex than we can think of! Today, I would like to discuss the Flight service station (FSS) and Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC), which are one of the air traffic control organizations.      FSS conducts pre-flight pilot briefings, flight planning, in-flight advisory services, and search and rescue services. Specifically, 1800wxbrief.com allows pilots to receive pre-flight briefings online, submit flight plans, and receive automatic notifications and alerts, including flight plan end notifications. In other words, it provides weather information for pilots, supports pre-flight briefings, and is responsible for search an...
